The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center reported that in a single year, US residents lost $57 million to phishing schemes. It seems that our ATHS membership is not immune to these attacks. This is an actual email recently received by a member of the ATHS Board of Directors:

First off, neither the ATHS President nor any other member of the ATHS leadership team would ever ask a member to purchase gift cards for the Society for ANY reason, no matter how worthy the cause. Second, Mr. Mullen’s typing skills are far better than this! If you receive anything like the email above, let ATHS know right away. But more importantly, forward the email to the Anti-Phishing Working Group at reportphishing@apwg.org and report it to the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov/complaint.
